The great place

HISTORY OF HARD ROCK CAFE

The first Hard Rock Cafe (HRC) opened to the public on June 14, 1971, in London, England. It was founded by Peter Morton & Isaac Tigrett. Hard Rock was originally eclectic decor but then began to display memorabilia. Hard Rock has amassed one of the largest collections of rock and roll memorabilia. The chain began to grow around the world in 1982 with locations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, New York, Dallas, Boston, Washington, DC, Orlando, Paris and Berlin. [1]

In 1990, The Rank Group Plc., London-based leisure company, acquired Mecca and continued expansion of the concept in their geographic area. Rank continues to buy Hard Rock America from Peter Morton and Hard Rock Canada from Nick Bitove. Upon completion of this acquisition, Rank worldwide gain control over the brand. In March 2007, the Seminole tribe of Florida acquired Hard Rock Cafe International, Inc. and other related entities of the Rank Group for $ 965 million [2] In recent years business has been coming for some criticism because the practice of paying the wait staff is less than half the official minimum wage in England, by allocating business tips for staff to bring their salaries within the law. Most customers, it is argued, does not realize that they are low wage subsidy when they give you tip [3].

On May 28, 2009, Hard Rock International announced plans to open a 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2), 500-seat HRC at Hollywood Blvd. at the Los Angeles area featuring concerts and a limited edition retail stores. Hard Rock International closes first location in the Los Angeles area, located in Beverly Center which opened in 1982 for worldwide expansion. [4] An opening date has not been announced.
